Like many pets out there, my dog Lyra finds Halloween a difficult time. People are constantly knocking on the door, which sets her off barking no matter how settled she is, and then the people at the door are wearing WEIRD costumes and asking to pet her! She must think it’s a very strange celebration…

That’s why I created this free “please don’t knock” sign for Halloween, for all dog parents out there who want a peaceful Halloween evening. Print it out and tape it to your door, window or wall, alongside a generous bucket of sweets, and ask Trick-or-Treaters to move on to the next house without knocking. Bonus points if it’s combined with some spooky “keep out” tape and a decoration or two!
